Ok. Since earlier this year, I have been in hiatus watching Korean Drama. Mainly because I was getting bored with the same old same old plots in k-drama. For the longest months there is no indication that a good quality drama like Answer Me 1997 will ever show. I have high hopes for Flower Boys Neighbors, especially the lead actor is Yoon Shi Yoon, king of awesomeness and handsomeness in my book, However, it went down the drain after watching Park Eun Hye acting. Just couldn't stand it, the same as I couldn't stand watching her acting in you're beautiful. I don't know why, to some she may look adorable and cuddly, but to me, her acting looks like a pain in the ass annoying (please don't attack me Park Eun Hye fans). That's what I fear for Suzy when she was cast in Gu Family Book with Lee Seung Gi. But boy oh boy I was so dead wrong about it and I apologize to her fans worldwide. She is just cool and awesome as Yeo Wol.
This is the first drama I have ever had the urge to watch the first few episodes even though the lead actor and actress not even come into light yet. Apparently, the PD have made a good decision in choosing the co-actor and co-actress to play Kang-Chi (Lee Seung Gi) parents during earlier time just before he was born.
The story line, is something else. Even though it's simple yet at the same time it's also refreshing. What is refreshing is the way the writers portrays Yeo Wol (the female lead characters). Unlike many characters in the other K-Drama, which depict the female lead as bold, but only in the first few episodes, the rest of the episodes the female lead somehow lose their cool, usually they turn out to be cry baby and give up or surrender or sacrifice themselves soon as the baddies threatening their family or loved ones. Which often makes me angry and upset and sometimes yelled I Protest!, seeing how weak these writers characterized the female lead when thy're experiencing difficulties.
To picture a woman who is once strong then becomes weak and crybaby is an insult. Women in my life when facing difficulties always come out as a strong survivor, they do cry, but they certainly not giving up and surrender even when they are faced with the impossibilities. How I wish to see a woman with such character in K-Drama.well, my wish come true, sort off. The female lead in Gu Family Book, Dam-Yeo Wol is smart, bold and awesome. She's not afraid to stay true to her heart if it's right even when she's pressured to do otherwise by those people close to her. I for once, give my highest salute to the writers for creating Yeo Wol Character. However, Yeo Wol's character that I'm watching now is still in episode 16. I don't know if she will stay the same, when we still have 8 more episodes to go... (SHE BETTER BE!! )
I do hope it's a happy ending for all, and the baddies get a harsh punishment and have a hard cold death.
Please writers, don't ruin the ending like what they did to Rooftop Prince! It's just not worthy for your life. Trust me, every able body in K-Drama will curse you to no end. Learn your lesson.
If you do not, then this K-Drama is just not my cup of tea and will not be in my list of coolest all time K-drama. Can't wait till monday for Kang-Chi (Lee Seung Gi) to kiss Yeo Wol. Two opportunities missed already, three times better be a charmed and it's better be superb and not only just Kang-chi's lips is the one's doing the dishes and Suzy's lips just ice cold and unmoved. BETTER NOT BE!!!!! if the writers make the third attempts missed again.. just resign from your post as a writer, or please MBC FIRE THEM! it will do good and justice to the world.
Cheers!
Update: This k-drama definitely not gonna make it to my top 10 list must watch k-drama of the year...the ending sucks. I thought these writers learn their lesson already from Rooftop Prince. Jeez...
